Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a progressive condition in which the kidneys gradually lose their ability to filter waste and maintain fluids, electrolytes, and hormonal balance. This presentation provides an overview of CKD, focusing on its causes, disease progression, prevention, clinical manifestations, complications, diagnosis, and treatment considerations. We will examine common etiologies and pathophysiology, including diabetes and hypertension, as well as major risk factors that contribute to kidney damage. We will touch on preventive strategies such as controlling blood pressure and blood glucose, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and avoiding medications or substances that may harm the kidneys. We will be discussing the signs and symptoms of CKD, along with potential complications, as well as diagnostic and evaluation methods. Finally, treatment considerations will focus on slowing
disease progression, managing
complications, lifestyle modifications,
medications, and renal replacement
therapies when necessary. The goal of
this presentation is to increase
awareness of CKD and emphasize the
importance of early detection, ongoing
management, and patient-centered care.
