Rare diseases are uncommon medical conditions that often present significant challenges in diagnosis, treatment, and long-term patient management. Approximately 80% of rare diseases have a genetic origin and frequently require specialized medical care, multidisciplinary collaboration, and ongoing monitoring. Accurate communication is essential to ensure patients and their families understand complex medical information, including diagnosis, genetic testing, treatment options, and informed consent. For patients with limited English proficiency, professional medical interpreters are an integral part of the healthcare team, facilitating accurate communication between patients and healthcare providers, reducing the risk of medical errors, and supporting informed clinical decision-making. Continued advances in research, increased awareness, early diagnosis, and equitable access to specialized medical care and qualified medical interpretation services are essential to improving patient outcomes and quality of life.
